Springdale Crop Synergies Ltd

We are currently looking for growers for the following crops for spring planting this year. Contracts are available for:-

Crambe

Crambe is a Spring-sown crop suitable for Northern European climates. It is a fast-to-mature crop, and 100 days to harvest is not uncommon. Full agronomy notes will be provided.

It is grown for its seed, the oil containing erucic acid that is used in several industrial markets, as is HEAR. However, unlike HEAR, crambe can be cultivated alongside oilseed rape as the two do not cross pollinate. As crambe is not included in the Blair House Agreement it can be cultivated on set-aside without restriction.

Linseed

Our clients have a requirement for linseed oil for industrial uses, predominantly for the manufacture of paints, varnishes and linoleum. The crop will therefore be grown for its seed, and, as above, full agronomy notes will be provided.

Linseed provides the farmer with an excellent break crop, ideal for preceeding first wheats.

Organic Borage

Borage is a well-recognised niche crop in the UK. Its market is mainly in the pharmaceutical and healthfood sectors. Buyers impose very high quality standards for the end product (seed for its oil), hence the interest in growing it Organically. Access to better varieties that are resistant to seed-shed will make this an attractive alternative crop.

If you have land that is suitable for the organic production of this plant, please get in touch.

Organic Rape

Organic production of oilseed rape is required for this Spring. Rape provides a useful break crop within Organic rotations. An additional benefit of growing the crop is the rapemeal which is a valuable commodity required for a rapidly expanding organic livestock industry. Details of this crop and all of the above can be obtained from:
